What: To consider the impact of conflict within a team and propose solutions and strategies to deal with it.
Why: In a perfect world, teams are cohesive units. Everyone gets along and supports one another. In reality leaders often find themselves in the position of peacemaker and need to have strategies to deal effectively with conflict.
​How: To consider a range of conflict scenarios and work in groups to suggest actions and solutions to each problem.

There are two main types of conflict
1. Task Conflict
2. Relationship conflict

There are 5 styles to adopt when dealing with conflict as a leader
1. Dominating - tell them the solution
2. Avoiding - ignore it
3. Compromising - split the difference
4. Accommodating - give in
5. Collaborating - bargaining between the team 

Be the boss - how will you deal with conflict?

 Get into groups of 3 or 4 and read the document opposite. The document explains some advice for dealing with conflict. These coaching strategies will give you some help in preparing you to deal with conflict.

Once you have read and discussed the strategies you should consider each of the common conflict scenarios that a leader will experience in the work place.

As a group discuss the scenarios one at time. Consider;
What emotions are involved?
What options do you have?
What action would have the best outcome for your company ad=nd your employees.
